File Checksum Calculator

Calculate SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 checksums of files and compare with the expected hash.

    Algorithms

Processed locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

    Is your download intact?

Software vendors, Linux distributions and security-minded projects publish SHA-256 checksums on their download pages. Hash the file you downloaded and compare it with that value to confirm it wasn't corrupted during download or tampered with.

    How it works

Choose your file and the tool calculates SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512. Paste the publisher's hash into the compare field and it clearly shows match or no match.

    Private and secure

Hashing uses your browser's Web Crypto API and the file is never uploaded, so you can safely hash confidential documents and large ISO files.

How to use File Checksum Calculator

    1. Choose the file to hash.
    2. Wait for the SHA values to be calculated.
    3. Paste the publisher's hash into the compare field.
    4. Check the match result.

    Why use this tool?

Verify file integrity and reduce malware risk without using the command line.

    FAQ

Can I hash very large files?

Files are processed with the Web Crypto API and must fit in memory. Very large files (several GB) may fail on devices with little RAM.

    Which algorithm should I use?

Whatever the publisher provides; SHA-256 is the most common today.

    Is MD5 supported?

SHA algorithms are supported for files. Use the Hash Generator for MD5 of text.
