Find the tempo of a song
DJs beatmatching sets, producers setting the project tempo, and choreographers or coaches picking music all need a song's BPM (beats per minute).
How it works
The tool measures how the spectrum changes over time (onset strength), finds the strongest repeating period with autocorrelation and aligns a beat grid to the music. The result is shown with beat markers and half/double-tempo alternatives.
No AI model needed
This is a classic music analysis method, so no model download is required and it runs quickly. Electronic, pop and rock songs with a steady beat give the most accurate results. Your file is analysed in your browser.
How to use BPM Finder (Tempo Detector)
- Upload your song (MP3, WAV, M4A…).
- The tempo is analysed in your browser.
- Review the estimated BPM and alternatives.
- Listen to the beat markers to confirm.
Why use this tool?
A reliable tempo estimate in seconds without DJ software or plug-ins.
FAQ
Why does it say 70 BPM instead of 140?
Tempo has a two-fold ambiguity. Half and double values are shown as alternatives; pick the one that matches how you count the beat.
Does it work for classical music?
Results are less reliable for pieces with changing tempo or no clear beat.
Can I find the key too?
Yes, use the Song Key Finder for the key and Camelot code.
