What key is the song in?

Singing, playing along, making a cover or mixing harmonically as a DJ all require knowing a song's key. The Song Key Finder estimates the most likely key of your track.

    How it works

The tool builds a pitch-class profile (how much of each of the 12 notes is present) and compares it with the Krumhansl-Kessler major and minor key profiles. You get:

    • The best-matching key (e.g. A minor)
    • A confidence level
    • Second and third candidate keys
    • The relative key
    • The Camelot wheel code for DJs (e.g. 8A)

    No model download

A classic music analysis method is used, so no AI model is downloaded. Your song is analysed in your browser.

How to use Song Key Finder

    1. Upload your song.
    2. The key is analysed in your browser.
    3. Review the most likely key and candidates.
    4. Use the Camelot code in your DJ set.

    Why use this tool?

Removes the difficulty of finding keys by ear and gives ready Camelot codes for harmonic mixing.

    FAQ

Why are relative major and minor keys often confused?

A major key and its relative minor (e.g. C major and A minor) use the same notes; only the emphasis differs. Check the second candidate too.

    What is a Camelot code?

A DJ system that labels keys with a number from 1 to 12 and A (minor) or B (major); neighbouring codes mix well.

What about songs that change key?

The tool estimates one key for the whole song; for songs with modulations the dominant key is shown.
