Barcodes for products and inventory

If you need barcodes for retail products, warehouse shelves, inventory tracking, library books or event tickets, the Barcode Generator supports the most common standards.

Supported barcode types

  • EAN-13: the 13-digit standard for retail products in Europe and much of the world
  • EAN-8: a short version for small packaging
  • UPC-A: the retail standard in the US and Canada
  • Code 128: a high-density logistics barcode with letters and digits
  • Code 39: an alphanumeric barcode used in industry and ID cards

The last digit of EAN and UPC barcodes is a check digit. The tool calculates it automatically or verifies the one you enter. Download SVG for print or PNG for digital use.

FAQ

Where do I get an EAN-13 number for my product?

Valid EAN numbers for retail are issued by GS1 in your country. This tool only creates the barcode image for a number you own.

What's the difference between Code 128 and Code 39?

Code 128 is denser and supports all ASCII characters; Code 39 is wider but compatible with older systems.

My printed barcode won't scan.

Print it large enough, with high contrast and quiet space at the edges. SVG improves sharpness.
