    What is hreflang?

Hreflang tells search engines about the different language or regional versions of a page. If your English page has Turkish and German equivalents, hreflang lets Google show the Turkish version to users in Turkey and the German version to users in Germany, avoiding wrong-language results and duplicate content signals.

    Three output formats

    • Link tags for the HTML head
    • XML sitemap entries
    • HTTP Link headers (for non-HTML files such as PDFs)

    Error checking

The tool validates language and region codes (tr, en-GB, de-DE…), catches duplicate entries and reminds you to add x-default and reciprocal links. The most common hreflang mistake is pages not linking to each other in both directions.

How to use Hreflang Tag Generator

    1. Add the code and URL for each language or region.
    2. Set the x-default version.
    3. Choose the output format.
    4. Add the code to every language version of the page.

    Why use this tool?

Implement one of international SEO's trickiest topics quickly and without errors.

    FAQ

    What is x-default?

It tells search engines which URL to show users whose language or region doesn't match any listed version, usually a language selector or the main version.

    Should each page list itself?

Yes. Every language version must list itself and all the other versions.

Should I use en-GB or just en?

'en' is enough if you only target a language. Add the region code if you target different countries with the same language (en-GB, en-US).
