Answers are extracted word-for-word from the most relevant passages. Works best with English documents; up to 300,000 characters.

Find answers in long documents fast

Searching for a specific detail in a contract, technical manual or research report of hundreds of pages takes time. Document Q&A lets you upload a document, ask in natural language and see the answer along with the source passage.

How it works

  • The text is split into passages and indexed with sentence embeddings (MiniLM)
  • The most relevant passages are found for each question
  • An extractive QA model (DistilBERT trained on SQuAD) picks the answer span
  • The answer is shown with the excerpt it came from

No made-up answers

The tool doesn't write new sentences; it extracts the answer word for word from your document, so it can't invent information that isn't in the text. Best results come with English documents.

Completely private

No document data leaves your browser, so you can use it safely for confidential contracts and internal reports.

How to use AI Document Q&A

  1. Upload your PDF, TXT or Markdown document.
  2. Wait while it's indexed on your device.
  3. Type your question.
  4. Review the answer and its source excerpt.

Why use this tool?

Query confidential documents quickly without uploading them to cloud AI services.

FAQ

Does it write new answers like a chatbot?

No. It extracts the answer word for word from your document and shows where it came from, so it can't make up information that isn't in the text.

Does it work with non-English documents?

The QA model is trained on English data; results for other languages aren't reliable.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Scanned PDFs contain no selectable text. Extract the text first with the AI Image to Text (OCR) tool.
