URL Encoder / Decoder
Encode or decode URLs and query parameters with percent-encoding.
Why URL encoding is needed
Special characters such as spaces, &, ?, # and accented letters can't be used directly in URLs; they must become percent codes like %20, %26 or %C3%A9. Otherwise links break and query parameters are misread.
Two modes
- Component mode: encodes a single query value or path segment, escaping everything including & and =
- Full URL mode: encodes only what's needed while keeping the structure (://, /, ?, &)
Decoding
Make unreadable links full of codes like %C3%BC readable again. Ideal for inspecting URLs in analytics reports, log files and redirect targets.
How to use URL Encoder / Decoder
- Paste the URL or text.
- Choose encode or decode.
- Select component or full URL mode.
- Copy the result.
Why use this tool?
Prevents broken links and makes encoded addresses easy to understand; all processing happens in your browser.
FAQ
When should I use component mode?
For a single query value or path segment; use full URL mode for complete addresses.
Why are spaces sometimes shown as +?
HTML form submissions encode spaces as +; the URL standard uses %20. The tool recognises both when decoding.
Should I encode URLs with special characters?
Browsers encode automatically, but encoded form is safer in code, email and system-to-system transfers.
